REED was conceived with the intention of creating a space rather than a singular object. The question was, could a modest environment exist from a simple furniture form? This idea was explored by extending thiis solid wood chair to allow for a table surface beside the user.  The result is an object of greater utility. By keeping all facets of the chosen activity close at hand – be it reading or enjoying a morning coffee – Reed becomes the center of the user’s experience.  Through this, Reed justifies itself as a self-sufficient activity space within its environment.
